Extension Privacy Policy

1. What the extension handles

The extension processes only the data needed to place download controls in Telegram Web and carry out actions you explicitly request.

• Telegram Web page data (read locally). For batch downloads, the extension reads the chat list already present in the Telegram Web page (IndexedDB or localStorage) only to map a numeric chat ID to that chat’s current public username. This processing happens inside your browser.
• Selected media references. When you select media and choose “Send to desktop”, the extension sends the chat reference, message ID, media ID, media type, file name, size, and Telegram Web page URL for those items to the TG Downloader desktop app installed on the same computer through Chrome Native Messaging.
• Extension settings. Your enabled toggle, video-quality preference, and quality-picker preference are stored with chrome.storage.sync. If browser sync is enabled, Chrome may sync these settings across devices signed into your browser profile; the developer cannot access them.
• Diagnostic records. Pending request records are stored locally with chrome.storage.local and automatically removed after 24 hours.

2. What the extension does not do

The extension is intentionally limited to its download function.

• Message contents and media files. It does not read, capture, or store message text or media file contents.
• Cookies, credentials, and browsing history. It does not read cookies, passwords, or your general browsing history.
• Developer-operated servers. It does not send extension data to servers operated by the developer.
• Analytics and advertising. It contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code.
• Sale or rental. It does not sell or rent your data.

3. Who receives your data

The developer does not operate a server that receives data from the extension.

For items you explicitly submit, the only intended recipient for selected media references is the locally installed TG Downloader desktop app. That app performs the requested downloads using your own Telegram account.

Chrome and its sync service may process settings stored with chrome.storage.sync according to your browser and Google account settings. The developer does not control or have access to that synchronization service.

No third parties receive selected media references from the extension.

4. Retention

• Extension settings. They remain until you change them, uninstall the extension, or remove them from your browser’s sync service.
• Pending request records. They are automatically removed after 24 hours.
• Media references sent to the desktop app. They are handled by the desktop application under its own retention rules.

5. Security

Selected media references are transferred to the local desktop application through Chrome Native Messaging.

Native Messaging uses a locally installed native-host manifest and does not route batch references through an online relay. The extension is configured to communicate with the TG Downloader native host and does not upload selected media references to a developer-operated server.

Keep Chrome, the extension, and the desktop app updated. No software or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

6. Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Children

The extension is not directed to children, and the developer does not knowingly collect or process children’s personal data through it.

8. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the extension, Chrome requirements, or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
